T Diggins Group recently completed a large-scale resurfacing project at Thors Hill in Wirral, delivering over 1800m² of new asphalt surfacing across the private estate and access roads surrounding the property. This was a full in-house operation completed by our experienced surfacing team using our own grab trucks, plant machinery, rollers and paving equipment from start to finish.

The project involved reconstructing and resurfacing extensive sections of roadway and parking areas across the site. Due to the scale of the works and the size of the access routes involved, careful planning and coordination were required to ensure the programme ran efficiently while maintaining the high standard of finish expected on a premium residential development.

Preparation works began with the formation and base preparation across the affected areas before installation of the new asphalt construction. The resurfacing package consisted of approximately 1800m² laid in 20mm binder course at 80mm depth, followed by a 40mm surface course using 10mm SMA installed with a large paver. Using a machine-laid process allowed us to achieve a smooth, consistent finish throughout the site while maintaining production efficiency across the programme.

The site itself presented a varied layout with long sweeping access roads, parking areas and steep landscaped embankments surrounding the property. Working within this type of environment requires precision from both the paving team and machine operators to ensure levels, edges and transitions are completed cleanly across all sections of the project.

One of the key advantages on this project was our ability to deliver the entire resurfacing package using our own fleet and workforce. By utilising our in-house grab trucks, rollers, paving plant and experienced surfacing operatives, we were able to maintain full control over scheduling, logistics and quality throughout the duration of the works.

Despite the size of the resurfacing programme, the entire project was completed within just two days from start to finish. Efficient material coordination, experienced operators and favourable site management allowed the works to progress smoothly while maintaining consistent asphalt quality and compaction standards across the full 1800m² area.

The finished result has transformed the overall appearance and usability of the site, providing a clean, durable and professionally finished surface throughout the development. The new SMA surface course not only improves visual appearance but also delivers excellent long-term durability and performance under regular vehicle use.
